Â
Hi, and welcome to my GMR Transcription review. đ
Is it true that you can earn good money, or is GMR Transcription just another scam transcription platform you should look out for?
If youâre a good listener and a fast typist, then having GMR Transcription as a side hustle might just be a bright idea for you.
I first came upon this website years ago while looking for legitimate ways to earn on the side without leaving my house. (find out more about me)
I mean, instead of spending my free time playing games or watching Netflix, maybe I could earn a buck or two doing something productive.
When I searched for easy online side jobs that I could do, I came upon their site, which seemed pretty promising at first sight.
Now, bear in mind that I didnât want to waste my time applying and working on a side hustle, only to be scammed for my efforts, so I decided to dig deeper and do some research.
Being the generous guy that I am, Iâll share what I found out with you. That way, you can see for yourself if GMR Transcription is a scam or not. đ€
Â
Also, suppose youâre serious about making money online and wish to start a real online business. In that case, I suggest you go through my money guide, as it clearly explains everything there is to know about starting a successful online business.
Inside, I share the exact step-by-step blueprint of how I earn a living online, along with a few of the reasons that got me into this.
I put a great deal of effort into it, so hopefully, you like it, and please donât hesitate to ask your questions at the end.
Â
What is GMR Transcription?
GMR Transcription is a website that offers transcription and translation services online. In 2004, Ajay Prasad founded the GMR Web Team, a marketing agency designed for healthcare professionals and practices.
GMR Transcription seems to be a part of this business, as many doctors require the services of transcriptionists to write down their voice notes.
Since then, they have expanded to cover transcription in other fields such as business and legal, translation, editing, and proofreading services.
According to their website, their company values accuracy, great service, and transparency, which is always a great thing to hear.
Â
So, what do transcriptionists really do?Â
As I went along with my research, the question â âwhat do transcriptionists do?â came naturally.
It turns out to be a pretty simple task on the surface â they write down words that have been spoken to make a permanent physical copy.
Transcriptionists have been around since pen and paper were invented. Still, todayâs technology allows people who are nowhere near the speaker to create a physical record and provide evidence of what has been said.
One thing that we must realize, though, is that transcription is more than just listening and writing. There are several intricacies involved, such as knowing the speakerâs tone and writing down minor audio cues to capture the essence of what is being said.
Furthermore, every transcriptionist must have a great hearing to understand the speakers, especially if different accents are involved.
Â
Can you make money as a transcriptionist?
You most definitely can as long as you have what it takes to listen to people carefully and also be able to type well. If you pass these two criteria, transcription could be a good opportunity for you.
While beginner transcriptionists donât make a lot (usually around $15 an hour), advanced ones can earn a lot more and even reach $25-$30/hour.
I understand that this may not be a lot for some of you, but when you think about it, you could easily pass the $1000 a month mark if you work at least 2-3 hours per day for an entire month. A pretty decent salary if you ask me. đ°
Â
Â
Do you have what it takes to be a transcriptionist?
You need to have sharp hearing and listen well to understand what the speaker is saying. You also have to analyze the situation in which the recording is happening to be able to accurately picture the events in the audio in your written output.
Aside from that, you are required to have a decent internet connection, a working computer, writing software such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs, over-the-ear headphones, and a foot pedal.
The over-the-ear headphone is a must if you want to hear the audio clearly. It will actually make your job easier because those big foam pads that cover your ear will block out extraneous noise and lessen the stress on your ears.
Â
The foot pedal, on the other hand, is not a requirement. â
However, it is highly recommended. The pedal plugs into your USB port and allows you to control your audio software without using your keyboard and mouse.
If you missed just one word, youâd need to switch applications and press the pause and rewind buttons â thatâs going to take a lot of time, and you would have missed several words by then.Â
If you have the foot-operated device, pausing the audio is as simple as stomping down on the pedal. It would increase your productivity and therefore increase your pay!Â
But before you head over to Amazon and purchase those, you must know that GMR Transcription requires you to pass a strict transcription test on their site before you could even start getting projects.
Â
GMR Transcription Review â Things you should know.
GMR Transcription is a remote freelance job, so donât expect any employer-employee benefits. They accept transcription and other related jobs from their clients and then outsource it to transcriptionists â you!
If thereâs one advantage in that arrangement, you can work at your own pace and at your own time. You can do it anywhere you want, and as long as you get the job done, GMR Transcription wouldnât care how you did it.
Just donât break any laws, alright? đ
Â
How much do GMT transcriptionist make?
If you want to be a transcriptionist, go to their website, and fill out their application form. Once done, you must upload your resume â make sure it is in .doc or .docx format.
They do not say how much they are paying per project as it varies depending on the turnaround time, number of speakers, and audio quality.
There are claims on their website that most transcriptionists can earn a good $1,000 to $3,000 a month, though â depending on their skill.
easily the best way to make money online!
Â
Wondering if there are any other jobs you can do aside from typing?
Well, since it is a transcription service, youâre expected to do a lot of that â typing. Aside from writing down the audio recording, you can also do translation, editing, and proofreading, but that is reserved for those who have the skills or have already been promoted within the system.
Â
is GMR Transcription Legitimate?
Without a doubt, GMR Transcription is a legitimate service. They have an Indeed.com page, and there are multiple freelancer reviews out there that confirm they got paid.Â
All you need is to invest in a good system â that is, computer, internet connection, and foot pedal â then youâre good to go and apply!
But donât get your hopes up just yet â people say that they have stringent qualifications for you to be even considered as a freelance transcriptionist.
Being legit is one thing, but company culture is another. đŻ
Â
What do other freelancers say about GMR?
One of the most common comments that I saw during my research is that their standard is high, like really high. It is challenging, especially for projects with short turnaround times and difficult speakers. Aside from that, I havenât seen many complaints from their workers or their clients.
Â
GMR Transcription Cons
I really havenât found any negative comments during my research. That just means two things â they treat their workers pretty well, or they have a good internet bot crawler that automatically takes down any negative comments. Iâm inclined to believe the former is true.
If you already have a computer and an internet connection, the investment that you must make is a foot pedal.
You can purchase it off Amazon, and it will set you back by at least $25. A pair of transcription headphones is also required and will cost you at least $10. But if you want to go with a nice brand, be prepared to shell out a cool $50 or more.
Â
A better alternative to GMR Transcription!
GMR Transcription is a pretty good service that offers a good source of income for side hustlers like you. But why not take it a notch further?
I suggest going with this platform if you want to earn money online â it wonât require you to purchase any device to start, and anyone can apply!Â
There is no strict application process that you must pass, and it offers long-term growth for you â not just a temporary gig.
Â
In GMR Transcription â thatâs what you will be, a typist, forever and always.
My number one recommendation for making money online gives you room to develop and thrive, on the other hand.Â
There are lessons for you to enjoy anytime and mentors who will make sure that you can make the most out of your hustle.
Why not give it a try instead? Your future could be here. đ
Â
When I was starting my search for ways to earn money online, transcription came first, so I tried to apply to different companies, but I think those strict tests and high standards made me lose the opportunity.
They make you do the virtual tests yourself on your computer, and that is it; I kept on failing on the internet speed. But this review said it all, and I will surely try your money model that you talk about as an alternative.
Yeah, as a transcriptionist, you are expected to have anywhere between 50 â 100 Mbps net speed, along with all the other requirements.
Donât feel bad for not getting accepted, as there are far better, more reliable ways to make a living online these days.
I hope you find great success with whatever path you choose to follow, and please know that Iâm here just in case you need a helping hand.
I love the way you use the artwork in your articles. It keeps it very fresh and appealing.
I have been researching transcription jobs for some extra money and was intrigued. Not sure if I have seen GMR Transcriptions yet, but Iâm glad to know there is at least one reputable company out there.
Iâm trying my best, Cathy, and just trying to mix things up a bit and stand out from the crowd in a good way.
GMR Transcription is legit on all levels, so hopefully, you nail it and make a good buck.
I have been wondering if GMR Transcription was a legitimate service, and you have answered my question, but I had not considered the company culture.
Also, learning about that has made me doubt my decision to join the platform. Having high standards is good. But if they apply it to every project, short turnaround times, and difficult speakers, it could be a problem.
The choice is yours at the end of the day. GMR Transcription is a legit platform, and there are also many advantages that come with it. Iâm just here to make sure youâre comfortable with whatever you choose to do.
Hi!
Excellent article and very concrete information regarding GMR transcription services! It is never easy to find a good transcriber, and it costs a lot of money when you do.
I was trying to find work as a transcriber and did not know about the foot pedal you mentioned. I will definitely look to buy one!
I wondered if this GMR was a legitimate web page, and thanks to your tips, I went to Indeed and saw the info you provided.
Thanks again, and I will try it!
Just play it smart about Iâm pretty sure youâll make some good money. In the meantime, please let me know if thereâs any way I can help.
I wish you the best of luck!
For many people around the world who are highly affected by job loss and low opportunity, online transcription services like GMR are well worth it. You can work at your own pace and time as you advise and earn a decent monthly take-home.
It sounds like the qualification process is steep, which could shake away some people hoping to become part of the GMR community. However, once passing this, it sounds like this well-established service is worth it.
Itâs indeed a great opportunity. Some may find it not worth it, but it can actually make a pretty decent salary. The âworking at your own pace and timeâ part is just a big plus.
I think transcription is a job that one can do only if he is very skilled or loves doing this kind of work. Otherwise, I donât see anyone holding doing it for a long time just as an extra type of income.
It needs some skill to do this, and anyone that is not skilled will need a lot of time to make some worthwhile money out of it.
You donât need the skills if youâre willing to learn a thing or two, Stratos. I also wouldnât classify this as a full-time job, but it indeed can be considering how much it pays.
It all depends on where youâre from and what your goals are.
Amazing review, man.
Iâm constantly trying to find legitimate ways to make money online. I did check out some websites related to transcribing audio.
I figured I might as well try finding a side hustle as a transcriber. You canât go wrong making a couple of bucks every day. Your article gave me real info on how transcribing works.
Thanks for your review.
Hey, Terence.
By all means, try this out if you think youâre fit for it. GMR Transcription is a legit company, and Iâm sure youâll like it.
Appreciate the kind remarks!
I never heard of GMR Transcription.
It sounds like something I would like to try out as I always had to do such tasks for my dad and his friends in the legal industry.
The question is, though, do you get through their applications easily?
As I doubt many people get through it if they want the best typist. I guess I just have to try. Thank you for the revelation!
I think you have a good chance of getting in, and having said that, I wish you the best of luck on the exam.
I would appreciate it if you let me know how it goes.
