Optavia Review

Is Optavia a Scam or a Legit MLM Scheme to Earn $1000’s From?

Want to know if the well-known Optavia is a scam or a legit diet plan that can kickstart your weight loss journey while earning you a few hundred bucks along the way?

Well, it appears that you are not alone as there are literally thousands of people worldwide who are begging to have this question answered.

In today’s Optavia review, I will discuss the qualities of their weight loss plans and programs and ultimately provide you with a clear answer to whether you should consider promoting them through their MLM scheme.

Now that the pandemic turned most of us into health freaks, we’re consciously looking for ways to ensure that our health is in tip-top shape.

People prioritize themselves more than ever, which can be reflected by the sudden rise of interest in physical outdoor activities and diets.

And speaking of diets, I’m assuming the real reason why you landed on this page is that you’re curious to find out if Optavia’s low-calorie prepackaged products actually work.

Well, I can’t really blame you because out of all the diets out there, this one gives you a personalized meal plan ideal for losing weight fast!

However, is it really possible to maintain whatever you have lost from this product? Please find out more in this complete Optavia review today.

Is Optavia a scamBefore we head right into it, let me just clarify that I am not connected with the company, nor am I being sponsored to write this post.

What you will read here are my honest opinions and reviews from people I know who actually tested the products.

If you decide to purchase their so-called “clinically proven plans,” snacks, and energy bars, I will not get any commissions or rewards from them.

All I want is to help you navigate their questionable offerings, and if that sounds like a fair deal to you, then let’s get on with it.

Also, you probably know by now that most people who join legitimate multi-level marketing schemes make little or no money at all.

Believe it or not, %39 of them even lose money.

Don’t get me started on the fact that most people think they’re joining a legit MLM scheme when, in reality, they are becoming part of an illegal pyramid scheme that steals from them and leaves them deeply in debt.

Suppose you want to avoid that scenario and start a real, scalable online business. In that case, please feel free to check out my #1 recommendation, as it’s genuinely one of the best platforms to get started in this confusing, often overwhelming online ‘biz’ industry.

Is Optavia a pyramid schemeHi, my name is Gorjan, and for the past couple of years, I’ve been solely focused on helping people steer clear of scams online. 💖

Till now, I’ve reviewed well over +300 online courses, apps, programs, multi-level marketing/pyramid schemes, and whatnot, to be honest.

If you wish to find out more about me, my story, past experiences, what I do on this blog, and how I can help you establish your first real source of passive income online, then, by all means, don’t hesitate to get to know me better by reading my about page.

I’ll actually be showing you how to build a real, long-lasting business online, so please don’t expect to make $1000’s upon starting.

Please be aware that the opportunity I’m introducing you to does require some work and effort, but that’s the only approach to take if sustainability and long-term growth are what you’re truly after.

Since that is out of the way, let’s get started, shall we?

Optavia Review

I am no stranger to the struggles of people who desperately want to lose weight and are looking to become excessively thin or muscular.

We can’t really blame anyone who’s found comfort and solace with food because they’ve had a stressed period at work or school, right?

For others who are leading a hectic life and juggling multiple jobs, there is the truth that it is sometimes tough to find time to exercise or prepare a nutritious meal. And trust me, you are not alone in this.

The latest report of WHO shows that about 1.9 billion adults are clinically diagnosed as overweight, 650 million are obese, and a shocking 39 million children under the age of 5 are overweight!

Is Optavia an MLMWith all things considered, now is undoubtedly the time to change your habits and develop a better health plan for yourself. đŸ„Ź

But, before you add to the cart all the products branded as a “weightloss” miracle, you must check first if they really are legitimate or just selling you placebo or even dangerously toxic ingredients.

Some companies sell pills that are not tested but are advertised with exaggerated claims. Some of those brands include:

  1. Belviq – was a good product at first but was recalled in 2020 due to its increased cancer risk.

  2. Qnexa – a product that works like an anti-depressant pill but has been found to have potential side effects like kidney stones, depression, seizures, and congenital disabilities if taken during pregnancy.

  3. Clenbuterol – is illegal for human consumption but was used by athletes as an enhancer back in the day. The tables are for treating horses but are used by many to increase metabolism.

Could Optavia also be part of these hazardous trends today? Please find out more below as we dive deep into what the company is all about, how it works, its products, and whether it is a total scam or not.

What Is Optavia?

Optavia is a diet program company under Medifast Inc., and it is branded to provide lifelong transformation through weight support programs.

The programs under the company basically rely on portion-controlled low-calorie diets that are high in protein.

Unlike its mother company, Medifast, Optavia is less strict on the food items consumed under their diet. You can eat pasta, sweets, and dairy products!

It has been around for quite a long time now and has been featured numerous times by different media agencies such as:

  1. U.S News – where it was ranked as the 4th best fast weight-loss diet, 15th best weight-loss diet, 21st best diabetes diet, 12th best commercial diet plans, and so much more.

  2. WTOP – branded it as one of the best fast weight-loss diets

  3. Direct Selling News – set Optavia at the 24th spot for the companies with digital momentum.

  4. CNN has Optavia in second place for the best fast weight loss company.

  5. Women’s Health – featured it as one of the programs that focuses on healthy lifestyle habits.

As of writing, the company is not accredited by BBB, and it has a meager 1.53 rating along with 461 complaints in the last three years.

It also does not have a TrustPilot account nor a Consumer Affairs profile. For me, this is a major red flag as most legitimate companies usually have profiles on websites such as these.

The company has around 234k followers on Facebook, 10.4k on Twitter, and 127k on Instagram, social media-wise.

The good metrics indeed say a lot about the company’s quality, and I like the part that they engage with their customers in the comment section of every social media page.

Optavia Diet Complaints

Despite its popularity, I find it genuinely questionable that their company does not have much information from clients.

The only website that features the complaints is BBB, where I found many interesting details about their products.

Another website that blatantly points out the downsides of Optavia is Best Life, where it’s featured as the WORST weight loss program.

Some of the most notable complaints include the following themes:

  1. It works, but it just costs too much to maintain.
  2. Side effects may be drastic.
  3. Products can even alter the menstrual dates for women.
  4. Loss of muscle mass due to rapid calorie cut.
  5. Decrease in metabolism due to rapid calorie cut.
  6. Extreme fatigue, weakened bones, and low immunity.
  7. Fast weight loss is possible with unknown long-term effects.

Some coaches who are more interested in selling will tell you that Optavia alone will help you lose weight. The truth is, exercise is still needed, and it plays a significant role in changing your habits.

The 800 to 1000 calories can be really low, especially since the average resting metabolic rate is at 1200!

As a customer who’s looking to lose weight, you should be aware that there are far better, healthier ways to skim off that excess fat.

As someone who’s looking to make money out of their MLM scheme, you should understand that it’s highly unethical and that you’ll likely have a hard time persuading people to starve themselves.

Is Optavia an MLM?

Yep, Optavia is an MLM, and as you probably can figure out, most of the coaches are practically just people who also sell products for the sake of commissions. It also features a pretty complex compensation plan which allows you to earn from three opportunities mainly:

  1. Client support income
  2. Team building income
  3. Leadership development income

Commissions, certification bonuses, coach consistency, and client acquisition bonuses are part of the Client Support Income.

To earn more and be qualified for the next rank, you must hit specific qualifying volumes and ordering entities.

The most basic rank is Coach, and the highest-earning ranking is the Integrated Presidental Director. To give you a ballpark figure of what to expect, you can earn around:

  1. $300 to $500 – get at least 6 people to purchase the Select Favorites Kit at $3.9k per month.

  2. $1000 – if you get 11 people to purchase the Optimal Essential Kit.

  3. $2000 – if you get 17 people to buy the Favorite Select Kit.

Do I recommend them? Well, I’m on a fence. 🙃

I have nothing against low-calorie diets, but please note that deficient intake can be unhealthy due to the lack of nutritional benefits and therefore challenging to maintain.

I have tried a low-calorie diet, and I find that it’s possible to track down your weight just by using popular meal tracker apps on your phone.

Without any of the expensive meal plans or “fuelings” that they sell, I could still shed at least 1 kg per week.

easily the best way to make money online!

best way to make money online

So, if you will ask me, just plan out your grocery on your own, and you’ll save yourself some serious bucks.

Also, I think you must know that their mother company, Medifast, was previously fined $3.7 million for false advertising of their products!

I am not saying that Optavia might also be doing this, but as you may know, the fruit usually doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Is Optavia a Pyramid Scheme?

As mentioned earlier, some MLM schemes are not what they claim to be and are actually pyramid schemes in disguise.

Optavia is a multi-level marketing scheme, but it really interests you whether it’s reliable or just another scammy pyramid-selling business.

To answer this, let’s first define what a pyramid scheme is.

According to Wikipedia, a pyramid scheme is a chain referral scheme in which individuals are offered a distributorship or franchise to market a particular product.

Real profits are earned here, but not by the product’s sale, but by the sale of new distributorships. This emphasis on selling franchises eventually leads to a lack of supply of potential investors, and the pyramid collapses.

Basically, a company that heavily focuses on recruiting new people to make more money at the top of the pyramid instead of selling the actual products for a profit is a pyramid scheme.

Somewhat similar to what Optavia does. 🙂

They lure people to try out their products and programs, eventually encouraging them to promote their products as coaches.

Most customers say yes to this offer so they can get a special discount since Optavias’ prices are just way too steep.

In a way, they are incentivized to join.

Becoming a coach for Optavia will cost you $199, but that’s just a fraction of the cost because you’ll still have to order products from them every single month, and just in case you forgot, some run about $500/month.

According to Optavia’s 2017 Income Disclosure Statement, only one-tenth of the coaches earn more than $2k a year, while %30 earn nothing, and the rest earn less than $1000 yearly.

How Does Optavia Work?

Once you have subscribed to any of their weight loss programs and plans, you can be assured of getting additional motivational tools to help you every step of your journey.

This includes tips and inspirational quotes sent directly to your phone, weely support calls with your coach, and a mobile app that pushes notifications and alerts for meal updates.

You will also be given access to an exclusive online community to share your stories using the forum and ask questions.

Once you join Optavia, you will have to choose between three types of programs such as:

  1. 5&1 Program – this type of diet subscribes you to 5 Optavia fuelings and 1 Lean and Green meal every single day for 12 weeks.

  2. 4&2&1 Program – this type of diet subscribes you to 4 Optavia fuelings, one snack, and 2 Lean and Green meals for 12 weeks.

  3. 3&3 Program – this diet is mainly for maintenance after the first 12 weeks, and it includes 3 Fuelings and 3 Lean and Green meals/day.

Before you choose any of those, be sure to content your coach and tell them if you have preferences, target weight, your lifestyle, age, and if you have certain medical conditions.

It would help if you also mentioned your allergies as their food usually contain fiber, monk fruit, inulin, whey protein, and pea protein.

Such information will help them provide you with a specialized plan that will give you specific calorie and nutrient needs per day.

For most people, the most recommended program is the 5&1 as it mainly cuts down your calorie intake fast!

Optavia ReviewIf you follow the meal plan rigorously and set aside at least 30 minutes of exercise per day, you can expect to lose around 4 to 5 kg over 12 weeks.

However, please note that the change is not the same for everyone as others may need to extend more than 12 weeks to lose this amount of weight. After 12 weeks, you can shift to the 3&3 program for maintenance.

From the way I see it, the programs can make you lose weight, but it is not really recommended that you target 800 -1000 calories per day as you can expect from the 5&1 program.

According to researches, 800 to 1000 calories can be pretty dangerous without medical supervision as it will not give you enough energy to do your usual tasks.

I have also tried the 800 calorie diet for a week and nearly fainted on the third day. Others may tolerate it, but please remember that this is challenging to maintain.

What Products Are Sold Under Optavia?

Like Medifast, you cannot really purchase their products in stores or local groceries, so you can only buy this online through the website.

While people are selling them on social media or Craigslist for a much lower price, do note that you can never be sure of the quality of the food if it is not directly ordered from the company.

Wondering what product ranges are being sold under Optavia? Here is the most updated list:

The company offers kits, energy bars, shakes, drinks and teas, crunchers, soups, and dessert food for fuelings. For snacks, they also have popcorn and puffed snacks.

For Lean and Green meals with six services per container order, they have meatball marinara, beef stew, chicken cacciatore, lemongrass chicken, chicken with rice and veggies, and chili lime chicken.

The breakfast choices include oatmeal, cereals, and pancake mixes.

Is Optavia a Scam?

Optavia is not a scam, and it definitely provides products that have worked fast for most people. The only downside I can think of is that their services cost much more than what you need to pay for a regular monthly grocery.

As for their legitimacy, the company is a well-known direct selling brand and has been featured/backed by numerous agencies.

The fact that it has been part of the rankings of U.S News can show you that the quality is indeed at par with the standards today.

But given that the kits and snacks can easily make you pay at least $4k per month, I find it almost impossible to maintain since that price is just way too much.

If I were you, I’d be better of making my own plans and cooking my meals based on the recommendations of online coaches.

Also, I can use that money and sign up for a premium gym membership and a medical consultation with real nutritionists and doctors.

With all that considered, I do not recommend this company at all, and you can find better and cheaper alternatives to this one.

How I Make A Living Online

I want to take this chance to introduce you to the business model to whom I owe my success and tell you that there are far better ways to make a living than becoming that annoying MLM friend that people can’t stand and run away from.

Many of my friends who are a part of a multi-level marketing scheme will tell you that it’s one of the best ways to make money online.

While MLM’s can indeed be profitable, you must understand that only the top %5 are actually the ones that can make a profit out of this.

You can only profit from a pyramid-selling system by joining at the very beginning or being an exceptionally talented salesman.

Chances are you are neither one.

Unfortunately, that’s the sad truth for most people who join MLM schemes, but please don’t let that discourage you since what I’m about to share with you is far superior, more rewarding, and more reliable than any multi-level marketing scheme you can think of.

Having said that, please don’t expect to become an overnight success story as this opportunity, like most others, requires some perseverance and a little bit of elbow grease from your end.

Is Optavia LegitIt’s the same business model that helped me go from $0 to earning $1000’s online, and I don’t doubt that you too can follow in my footsteps. 💾💾💾

I hate to keep you waiting, so to better understand what I’m dealing with daily, please feel free to take a look at my money guide, as it perfectly explains everything there is to know about my business line.

I advise you to go through it, see what I have to say, and then decide whether this opportunity is worthy of pursuing or whether you want to skip it and continue working on other people’s dreams.

I believe it’s about time I end this Optavia review, so hopefully, I was able to provide you with a solid answer to whether this company is legit or just another pyramid scheme to stay away from.
